Evernote has definitely been one of the greatest things that have happened in my life. Our note taking app helps you capture and prioritize ideas, projects and to-do lists, so nothing falls through the cracks. In my entire life, I must have purchased millions of things, across various walks of life, but seriously, nothing can meet the value for money or the soul satisfaction of having used a product or looking forward to it each day, and every moment.
Checklists : I use checklists ranging from my work related stuff to a checklist to check essentials when going out of town. Every few days, I learn something new, or a new feature is updated, and I modify my workflow to accommodate the feature. The points below talk only about most of the ways, how I used Evernote. Here are some of the ways, that I use Evernote. I very much realise and appreciate the fact that not for nothing is Evernote marketed as your external brain. For an extremely disorganised person through out, Evernote was a god send to me. Virtually, all most all the thoughts that frequent my head are some way or the other present in Evernote.
I still don’t remember it today. By the time I reached home, I only remembered the comparison part of the thought, and not the former part, which had initiated this thought process. Mp3 file, with both of them having been encoded at the same bit rate. One day, when I was riding my bike, and some thought struck me, which seemed interesting, and this led to a series of thoughts which led me to the conclusion that One of the things that i had to do a quality comparison test between a legally purchased. Storing random thoughts : Random thoughts flood my brain at in predicted times, and within a few moments, they have the capacity to vanish.

This was also beginning it affect me much. Digital journal : One of the negative things about me is that I used to retain a lot of the negative feelings, especially hurt in my heart. I use this app very much for saving content into my research note book, and all the highlights made on the webpage are also saved in the notebook.
This is quite easy to write, since at any point in time, when I feel like writing, I will atleast be having my smart phone. My previous entries were brought into Evernote, and I started writing into my journal notebook. Once, I started using Evernote, I moved my journal into Evernote. But it used to be very cumbersome. For past few years, I had been writing a digital journal in a word document.
After a while, I managed to get a stylus, and I started to write my journal on Penulimate, and subsequently syncing my notes into Evernote. Ever since I purchased my Ipad mini, which is also like a work horse for me, I realised that I could start writing my journal in my own handwriting now. Penultimate : Penultimate is a digital handwriting app for IOS.
On saving the annotated PDF document on windows and opening it, you can even see the annotation summary prior to opening the main document. The annotated note, opens seamlessly in IOS and android, although the windows client does not have skitch integration as yet. Skitch and PDF annotation : the native skitch app allows image annotation, but with a recent update, skitch is able to annotate entire notes , including text to PDF , annotate and subsequently save the annotated document back to Evernote. So, as a premium user, I just lock my Evernote Mobile App. The password lock for mobile devices : You can’t stop some pesky kids getting to your devices, or a friend who might ask to see the insides of your phone, but for a person like me, allowing them to see my Evernote notes is sacrilege. So, I was left with no choice but to go back into the old typing journal on the stock Evernote app itself.
Notebook organization : Evernote allows notes to be tagged , but somehow, I didn’t find tag suitable to my brain. Evernote can also send a reminder digest to email account, if needed. It currently works only for mobile platforms, has a simple way of adding quick reminders or adding a note to a reminder. Reminders : Although requested for a long period of time, this feature has only been recently implemented.
The app is awesome, and especially , its edge detection is awesome. If I wish to scan a series of images and save them as a PDF, I use Tinyscan pro, which is third party premium tool costing 3-4 dollars, but which I had got through a free deal. If I want to save the picture as an image, then I use the camera app on the Evernote app. For this, I use the camera in my Ipad mini. Scanning all documents : I scan all documents including payment receipts, bills, tax payment receipts, interesting newspaper articles., medical documents, vehicle documents, and have started to digitise my older paper related documents. This also helps very much in deciding which notebook should be made offline, in case I go away somewhere where there is no internet connection.
Feedly is a great app,and after google readers demise, I use it to follow my RSS feeds. Evernote’s unique Email id : There are some apps which do not have direct integration with Evernote, or like feedly pro, they are horribly expensive for a direct one touch Evernote integration. Documents which are not in English, are also scanned and titled appropriately , and pushed in the right notebook and are quite easy to search and find. With its inbuilt OCR search functionality, I can search through the documents in no time.
Backing up my Gmail account : Although, I use Thunderbird to save my gmail locally, using IFTTT, I have also created that a trigger that when I receive a new email in gmail, it automatically gets forwarded and saved in my Evernote account. During this period if time, I select few notebooks and take them offline, so that I can use them without a internet connection. Offline notebooks : I have begun to realise the value of offline notebooks , when I go to places, where there is no network at all, or unstable or horribly expensive or dead slow connections. I prefer the former method. If a note is saved for later in feedly, That note can be automated in IFTTT to be automatically forwarded to Evernote. Alternatively, I can also use IFTTT.
